Lookout Mountain Community Services provides a full array of mental health services to adults with a wide range of behavioral and/or psychiatric disorders. Outpatient treatment modalities include diagnostic assessments, individual, group, and family therapy, as well as psychiatric evaluations and medication. Treating professionals include psychiatrists, master and bachelor level therapists, activity therapists, registered nurses, case managers, and clinical assistants. The psychosocial programs are designed to provide a specialized therapeutic approach emphasizing empowerment, independence, employment, and self-governance. The program, which is designed for individuals who may require longer-term care, is enhanced by an intensive case management component as well as short-term and long-term residential care. Specialized Adult Mental Health Services Case Management Services - Case Management is a community-based treatment modality which provides treatment, rehabilitation, advocacy, and support services to consumers with severe and persistent mental illness. Case managers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to help consumers establish natural-based community support networks. These include safe and affordable housing, part- and full-time employment, opportunities for social interaction, as well as educational programs on various aspects of mental illness and medication. Based on a philosophy of consumer empowerment, this program's goal is to help individual toward independent, responsible, and self-directed lives. Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services - LMCS offers two psychosocial programs, one in Walker County and the other in Chattooga county. Both programs are based on the Clubhouse model in which consumers are members and participate in the oversight and operation of the program. This model of treatment is based on the belief that capitalizing and building on consumer strengths are keys to recovery and health. Programmatic emphasis is on community living skills, vocational skills, educational skills, and medication and illness management. Residential Services - Residential Services is a program designed to provide supervised housing opportunities for adults with severe and persistent mental illness. Housing may be either short-term or long-term depending on consumer need. Long-term housing is available for individuals who lack the community skills to live independently, while short-term housing provides respite during a psychiatric emergency which is not severe enough to warrant hospitalization. Both LMCS Residential Programs are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and offer a variety of learning and recreational opportunities based on individual consumer needs. Supported Employment - LMCS offers an extensive Supported Employment Program for persons recovering from severe and persistent mental illness. Often, this population has difficulty securing competitive employment due to inadequate work history and lack of training. The Supported Employment Program emphasizes pre-vocational training, on-the-job training, job coaching, employer assistance, and extensive follow-up for corporate and individual participants. |
