Jon was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and moved to Summerville, Georgia, at age one.  He was educated in the Chattooga County School System.  He attended Florida College then United States Marine Corps as an artilleryman in a 105 Howitzer battery.  Jon worked as a Corrections Officer and as a Deputy Sheriff while being educated at Georgia State University in Criminal Justice. 

 Jon obtained Eagle Scout award and successfully competed regionally and nationally in Citizenship and Marksmanship.  

 In 1975 Jon was elected as Probate Court Judge at the age of 26 and is still serving as Probate Judge.  He also serves as Magistrate Judge and Municipal Court Judge, as well as Elections Superintendent for Chattooga County.   

Jon has a son Patrick and his wife Tara who live in Auburn, Alabama; a son Chase and his wife Brandie of Smyrna, Georgia; and a daughter Marlie in Trion, Georgia.
