Developmental Disability ServicesThere are three developmental disability service centers providing a variety of support programs. ANCOR Developmental Disability Service Centers in Chickamauga, Summerville and Trenton provide community access, pre-vocational skills development, supported employment, residential services and family support to developmentally disabled individuals from Walker, Dade, Catoosa, and Chattooga counties. Community Access: Community Access Services provide an opportunity for developmentally disabled individuals to develop new, or enhance existing, living skills which will promote community independence. This program is time-limited, goal-driven and consumer-centered. Community Access assists the individual in becoming an active member of their community. Training may take place in a structured facility environment or the community. Services can be rendered in small groups or individually. Family Support: Family Support Services are provided as an intervention to aid families in maintaining a developmentally disabled relative in the natural home environment. Respite care and other in-home supports are available to provide intensive support to families. The Developmental Disability Services Program also assists families to identify appropriate residential alternatives when living in the natural home is no longer an option. Pre-Vocational Program: The Pre-Vocational Program provides an intensive, short-term, structured work-like environment for individuals in preparation for more competitive work settings. Employment Services: Employment training programs are designed to prepare the developmentally disabled individual for employment by teaching positive attitudes toward work as well as basic skills necessary to obtain and secure employment. Work opportunities may be in highly structured environments or in the community, depending on the individual's ability and choice. The Advanced Employment/Supported Employment Program is designed to give developmentally disabled persons the opportunity to work in the community along with non-disabled employees. Residential Services: Lookout Mountain Community Services can help individuals with developmental disabilities secure a variety of living arrangements based on their level of care and choice. A community residential alternative includes 24-hour care in personal care homes, community living agreements and host homes. The host homes provide a family like environment and are limited to a maximum of two individual being served in the setting. Community living services are provided in the individual’s natural home setting. The services support the consumer to enhance their skills so they can remain in their homes. DD services are accessed through the Region One Intake and Evaluation Team (I&E). They can be reached by calling (877) 217-4462. The Intake and Evaluation office is located at 650 Henderson Drive, Suite 430 Cartersville GA 30120. |
