What benefits are offered at LMCS?

Eligible employees may participate in a benefit program including holidays, vacations, retirement savings, health programs, and other benefits.

Who is eligible for benefits? 

Benefits eligible means that the salaried employee works on average more than 29 hours per week.

When does insurance go into effect for new employees?

Insurance will be activated the first date of the month following the first full month of employment.

Can I drop or add insurance at any time?

No, employees can only make changes to insurance during the first 30 days of new employment, during the LMCS annual Open Enrollment period, or when the employee has a qualifying event.  Examples: other coverage due to marriage, loss of coverage due to divorce, Medicare coverage, etc.

I have just been approved for Medicare.  Can I drop my coverage with LMCS?

Yes, employees can apply to discontinue coverage within 31 days of the Medicare coverage activation.

When will my insurance be deducted from my check?

Health insurance premiums are deducted from the middle of the month check (15th), all Flexible Benefits insurance premiums are deducted from the end of the month check (31st). The only exception is the Spending Account deduction which comes out of each check.

What is the National Health Service Corps (NHSC)?

The NHSC is a network of more than 9,000 primary health care professionals that provide medical, dental, and mental and behavioral health services in communities, known as Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs), across the country that have limited access to health care.  In exchange for their service, the NHSC provides clinicians with financial support in the form of loan repayment and scholarships.  Corps members fulfill their service requirement by working at NHSC-approved sites.

What is an NHSC-approved site?

NHSC-approved sites are health care facilities that provide comprehensive outpatient, ambulatory, primary health care services to populations residing in HPSAs.  Related inpatient services may be provided by NHSC-approved Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs). Each site that would like to use the NHSC to recruit and retain health professionals must submit a Site Application and be approved as an NHSC site.

Is LMCS an approved NHSC site?

Yes.  The NHSC Scholarship Program pays students’ tuition, books, and other costs, and provides a living stipend, while students train to become a primary care provider in an NHSC-eligible discipline.  To receive an NHSC Scholarship, students must be enrolled in an accredited medical, dental, nurse practitioner, certified nurse midwife, or physician assistant training program.  Upon graduation, NHSC Scholars serve as primary care providers in an NHSC-approved site for two to four years, depending on their service contract.
